The Kickoff: Classified Ads

This is a simple way how to use a viral marketing example together with a classified ads site to your maximum benefit.

But first let me explain where I'm coming from;

I've been too busy for way too long.

But finally I'm off the 'mega projects', so now I'm going to be able to devote more time to projects I once started but was unable to complete (I didn't even complete the start).

This Internet marketing project is the first one I'm going to pick up.

Well the starting point is great, there is severe competition in this field, so let us just see how far we can get with the known and unknown tactics of todays on-line marketing.

This site starts out relatively blank, with no traffic to speak of and no real back-links.

So I'll approach this in a practical manner, documenting what I do, offering some products, and telling you what works when and why.

This will be our little testing ground on how to achieve maximal results in an area of severe competition.

So lets get on with the first test case!

  1. I Chose a viral marketing example product to promote that gives 100% affiliate commission. I want maximum effect here if this works.
  2. I found a classified ads site that was quickly and well indexed by the search engines.
There is a free option for this site, but the premium paid option offers so much for $10 a month, I just had to take that one. There is also a $10/year option. At these prices with unlimited auto resubmitting ads, Google ads look really expensive.
  3. I did some keyword research and found some keywords to use for the viral marketing ebook.
  4. Wrote and placed the classifieds, and then went for a walk.

Surprise, surprise, when I came back my ads were on the first page of Google! Indexed in the past 15 minutes it said.

I also have 11 views on the ad, so this is not bad for a first day.

So far, so good.

This is something simple that anyone can do, and see some results in a couple of hours.

After 3 days the listing

After 3 days the listing disappeared from the Google index.

That's just great I thought.
So I did some investigating and what happens is that if Google does not find a link to the listing it is removed on the next refresh.

So you have to add links to your ads.
I added 3 links, and the ad reappeared on the first page of google for its targeted keywords.
Today it is still there at position four (4) on the first page for its keywords.

More links will invariably raise its position.
But as a test , I can say this works perfect.
